Tom's 57 Chevy

This is my 1957 Chevy 210 4 door sedan. I owned it from 1967 to 1970. I replaced the Powerglide automatic transmission with a manual 3 speed with a Hurst floor shifter. I also replaced the engine a couple of times and ended up with a 283 cubic inch bored to 302 with a Rochester 4 barrel carbeurator. It had dual glass pack mufflers with side exit exhaust and 2 inch "dump" pipes with removable caps welded into each side of the exhaust in front of the mufflers.

It had coil springs inserted above the rear axle to lift the rear end. It had chrome reverse wheels with Mickey Thompson tires. Some of the rear trim was damaged in an accident. My dad repaired and painted the body and the top trim on the rear sides as well as the Chevrolet emblems were removed leaving only the bottom trim strip shown in the picture. The rear bumper was removed and replaced with a 2 inch flat black bar across the back.

It had an 8 track stereo under the dash with front/rear stereo separation through 6x9 speakers. The bench seat interior was very rough but serviceable with cheap seat covers. The headliner was removed and the interior roof spray-painted.
