This definitely seemed to be a beer in two parts. The initial experience
is the "alt" portion (though this is a guess... I don't think I've ever
had an alt before), which seemed to me like a maltier and peatier amber.
There was then a transition, or heightening, of the alt taste with the
distinctive taste of wheat beer. The transition was not too abrupt and I
enjoyed both phases. You described this as an "experimental" beer and I
can't say I have ever had anything like it.
